Why do I KEEP repetitively returning to the thing I don’t want to?

 

Why me? 

Why can’t I stop? 

You’re not alone, we thought these same things for years.

Why am I stuck in this and others around me are not? 

 

Have you ever thought about not why the thing so much, but rather why do I KEEP repetitively returning to the thing I don’t want to?

 

Some people will lead you to believe that you have some sort of moral failing, that you’re  just weak, some will tell you you have a disease from which there is no known cure. 

 

We’re here to tell you it’s none of the above. 

 

We want to show you that you are not flawed in any way, and that you can free yourself from the grip you’re in. 

 

There’s a really easy and pretty damn logical way to understand addiction that no one really seems to talk about, but every time we do, we hear back “this just makes so much sense”. 

 

Want to know what it is? 

 

Humans have an innate conditioned inability to feel and process emotions. 

 

Full stop… right there… 

 

And so what does every human on this planet do when DISCOMFORT, or a feeling or a trigger arises that no one taught us how to deal with? 

 

We turn to what we are very much modelled to do, through how we’ve been brought up, culturally conditioned, and what we’ve been shown by most around us.

 

We numb, we pacify, we push the discomfort down, suppressing the feels and the emotion with whatever we find works for us… 

 

Insert coping mechanism here… 

Insert looping patterns here… 

Insert compulsive behaviours here… 

Insert distraction here… 

Insert ADDICTION HERE. 

 

IT'S ALL THE SAME.

 

And that becomes our ingrained, hardwired, quick fix and fast RELIEF from the stuff no one taught us how to be with. Those FEELS! 

 

It’s a spectrum… 

 

Some choose toxic relationships, some food, some porn, some gambling, some gaming, some drugs, some medication, some work, some alcohol… the list really is endless. 

 

Anything that disconnects US from US and takes away from the dis-ease trying to bubble to the surface for attention and processing. 

SO… in saying this, and with you potentially resonating with this? 

 

Nodding along as if we’re in your head and things are starting to click and make sense, especially compared to some systems you may have been plugged into previously… (because we’ve been there! And lived it) 

 

Take a second to consider this… 

 

Should we be treating the THING… ie the drug, the food, the alcohol… etc etc or what we at LITS  just perceive as the symptom… 

Or should we be treating the inability to feel our feelings? 

The undigested life experiences we all carry that creates that discomfort?

The underlying anxiety simmering under the surface? 

All the ruminating and looping thoughts that cycle relentlessly?

The shame and remorse we seem to carry for our behaviours or the self loathing we feel towards yourself? 

What about all those moments we spend seemingly worrying about what others might be thinking of us too?  


From our experience, when we attend to and focus on, what we call these ROOT causes, then simply as a byproduct… 

 

The THING, the addiction, the pattern, the coping mechanism, the bandaid or crutch… 

It disappears… 

 

This is what we do here at Line In The Sand. 

 

This is what we are here to change as an industry standard. 

 

And this is the conversation that needs to be had far more often. 

 

So that people just like you, all over the globe, can finally experience some peace. 

 

Some real sustainable freedom and change in their lives. 

 

Some reprieve from the hamster wheel we know a lot of you have struggled with for too long now with very little answers or anywhere to turn.
